B-12 10ml
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) in a 10 mL liquid vial, supplied for in-vitro studies of cobalamin-dependent enzymes. For research use only.
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is not a peptide. It is a cobalt-containing corrinoid: a central cobalt ion held by a corrin ring, with a lower axial ligand from a dimethylbenzimidazole nucleotide and a variable upper ligand that defines the specific cobalamin form. Animal cells cannot make it; it is produced by certain bacteria and archaea.
Cobalamin serves as a cofactor for two enzymes in mammalian cells. Methionine synthase uses it in the transfer of a methyl group to homocysteine, forming methionine, and methylmalonyl-CoA mutase uses it in a radical rearrangement of methylmalonyl-CoA to succinyl-CoA. In-vitro research uses cobalamin to study these enzymes, one-carbon metabolism, and intracellular cobalamin trafficking and processing.
Supplied as a 10 mL liquid vial. A third-party certificate for this product is coming soon. For in-vitro research use only.
